The
Advanced Learning Center is a part of the Information Technology Division but works closely with the Academic Provost and Academic Affairs.

Center Mission: Our mission is to support effective learning for the University of Memphis community through the development of technology fluency, innovations in teaching, and research.
The
Advanced Learning Center was created to serve the entire campus community including faculty, staff, and students. We provide a combination of service and support ranging from formal training sessions to individual technical assistance. In addition to the campus community, the ALC collaborates with other institutions of higher learning and participates in similar efforts in the larger educational community of the Mid-South, U.S. and world.

Benefits of being a part of FIPP
Participating in the FIPP project, allows the
Advanced Learning Center staff to collaborate with faculty and researchers in different areas and from a variety of universities. This collaboration then extends to our local community by encouraging faculty to participate in FIPP in order to network with individuals who are involved in their area of research.

The Advanced Learning Center has also begun a year long Technology Fellowship Program (https://umdrive.memphis.edu/g-tfp/www/). This program includes ten faculty from ten different academic disciplines. Their skills vary in IT experience and sophistication of IT use. The common theme of this program is to improve instructional technology skills to impact deeper learning for their students. It is a cohort program that runs for a 12 month period. The program consists of asynchronous collaboration as well as face-to-face activities. Currently, our participation in the NLII Bridging Community Pilot Project enables the usage of the iCohere collaboration software. Our goal is to have the faculty members involved in this Program become a part of the FIPP community to continue communication and collaboration.
