Greetings Community Members:
As many of you may already know through visiting the portal (www.fipp.net), FIPP has renamed itself the Community Learning and Innovation Initiative (CLII), to reflect its increased focus on Communities of Practice (COP). Please send an email to clii.members@vanderbilt.edu and let us know:
- The Community (or Communities) of Practice that you would like to join. The descriptions of the proposed Communities of Practice can be found under the Gateway Community Corner (http://www.fipp.net/copclii).
- Indicate your participation preference: facilitator or individual
COPs being Established. In establishing our CLII Communities of Practice dedicated to promoting the scholarship of teaching and learning in higher education, we will strive to have joint facilitation of each COP by three individuals and an active membership of at least 15 members.
COP Hosts/Facilitation of R&D. If you are interested in being a facilitator for a given COP, or would like to invite others to form a COP, please check out the "CLII Community Facilitator's Corner" (http://www.fipp.net/portal/group/gDnubC), including some guidelines for facilitating communities of practices within the CLII framework. The guideline entitled "CLII COP Facilitator's Leadership Efforts" provides a general framework in serving as the facilitator/COP Host within the environment.
COP Governance. The "CLII COP - Community Foundational Governance", presents the basic structure and the approach being used to support community-building.
Facilitator efforts are underway and include:
- Emailing invitation to the members inviting them to identify which COP they would like to join;
- Asking members to indicate if they would like to participate in CLII as individuals or as facilitators;
- Asking members to share activities/innovations with community for collaborative feedback and exchange of ideas.
Commencement of COP efforts establishment will be underway during the month of March, 2005, with our initial COP Town Hall IP Videoconference to take place in mid-April, 2005.
Please see Gateway 'About FIPP' menu - and refer to the Events options for Schedule of events across our Communities of Practice.
I look forward to the journey that lies ahead and fruitfulness of many engaging opportunities in the research and discovery of innovations in teaching and learning.
